Blackburn Rovers defender Callum Brittain has said that they have played well despite a ‘weird’ start to the season.
Rovers have started the season with an even start, picking up four points from their opening three games.
Harry Pickering was sent off early on Saturday when visitors Hull came from behind to win 1-2 at Ewood Park.
This meant that Brittain had to fill in at left-back once again after starting at his natural position of right-back.
Brittain said that it doesn’t bother him where he plays as long as he is on the pitch.
Speaking to the club website, he said: “I think I’ve probably played left back more than I’ve played right back for Rovers so far, but as long as I can get on the pitch and perform, I’ll be happy.”
“I just want to help the team as much as I can. If I can play and we can get some results, I’ll always be a happy man.
“It was a little bit chaotic coming on on Saturday, but credit to the boys for making things a lot easier.
“We played well and I felt we took it to Hull, creating chances to get something out of the game, it was just unfortunate that it wasn’t the case with the result. We can take positives from that game, though.”
“We’ve played in games where a team’s had 10 men twice, one that’s gone in our favour and one that hasn’t.
“I think we’ve performed well, we still need to take out chances, but it’s been a pretty positive start to the season.”
Blackburn have had a good start, but where do they need to improve?
Considering Rovers’ only loss so far this season in all competitions has come in a game in which they spent the majority of it with ten men, there is definitely a lot of positives to take.
Going forward Rovers have been brilliant, scoring nine goals in the opening four games this season.
However, they have conceded eight goals, so will need to shore up at the back.
It comes as no surprise based off this information that they have been looking at centre-backs, with Sunderland’s Danny Batth, Union Saint-Gilloise’s Ross Sykes and Reading’s Tom McIntyre being linked with a move to Ewood Park.
