Blackburn Rovers adopted the Senior Training Centre at Brockhall as their base after moving to the ground in 1994. The Ribble Valley venue is also home to the Academy Training Centre.

Boyhood supporter Jack Walker financed their change of facilities during a renowned tenure as Blackburn Rovers’ owner. He also financed the club’s return to the top with their 1994/95 Premier League title. Blackburn Rovers have also named a stand at Ewood Park after Walker.

But Blackburn do not own their training ground today as the Venky’s separated Rovers from their Brockhall base in 2021. The club’s current owners bought the first-team venue via their company, Venkatashwara London Ltd, for £17.5m. Blackburn have since leased the facilities.

Blackburn Rovers training ground name

The Brockhall ground is split between the Senior Training Centre for Blackburn Rovers’ first-team squad and the Academy Training Centre. Rovers simply named their venue as such to denote which team uses which facilities. While the venue is located in the Brockhall Village.

Blackburn had explored plans to demolish the Senior Training Centre and merge Rovers’ two training grounds into one state-of-the-art site. Club chiefs saw the Academy Training Centre, opened in 2001, as the superior base venue. But their planned idea is currently still shelved.

CEO Steve Waggott still viewed a combined site as ‘the way forward’ in December 2022. But Blackburn only explored amalgamating their training grounds for a month after first sharing the topic in February 2021. Rovers failed to generate the necessary support to push ahead.

The Senior Training Centre at Brockhall has four real grass pitches for Blackburn’s first-team. Jon Dahl Tomasson also became the first Blackburn Rovers manager to demand that one of the pitches mirrors the size and conditions of an opponent’s pitch for away matches in 2022.

Development work in 2016 also saw Blackburn install two indoor 5-a-side pitches and a 7-a-side pitch at Rovers’ Brockhall base. While the club also included an outdoor 3G field at the Academy Training Centre back in 2013. It provides their youth prospects a year-round field.

Walker invested £4.75m to construct Blackburn Rovers’ training ground at Brockhall back in 1994. The club has since invested regularly to maintain the facilities at the venue. While the pitches installed across the Senior and Academy Training Centres can hold 1,000 spectators.
