The club’s name, Blackburn Rovers, came into existence with the side’s creation simply due to the town of their origin. While the Rovers aspect of their name stemmed from Blackburn not having a fixed home at first. The suffix denotes sides that moved from ground to ground.

Blackburn Rovers founding year
John Lewis and Arthur Constantine founded Blackburn Rovers in November 1875 when they chaired talks to create an Association rules football club. The old boys of Shrewsbury School led talks at the St Leger Hotel on King William Street with a total of 17 people in attendance.
Most of those in attendance were Blackburn Grammar School old boys. Their education and business acumen ensured the new club was well-placed to benefit from the early growth of the sport. Blackburn Rovers would also later play their first match come December 11, 1875.
Blackburn Rovers stadium

Blackburn Rovers moved into their home stadium Ewood Park in 1890 after agreeing a lease deal. The Lancashire outfit had earlier played at the venue when it was called Ewood Bridge. Blackburn have also regularly renovated their stadium over the years, most recently in 1995.

Blackburn Rovers training ground
The Blackburn Rovers first-team use the Senior Training Centre at their Brockhall ground in the Ribble Valley. The club’s venue also features the Academy Training Centre for Blackburn Rovers’ academy players. Rovers have held all of their training session at the site since 1994.

Blackburn Rovers are one of the 24 current Championship sides and they have played in the league since 2018. The Ewood Park club sealed their return to the second tier after a season in League One. Rovers have not played in the Premier League since their 2011/12 relegation.
