Blackburn Rovers winger Ryan Hedges is set to be out for three months after sustaining a hamstring injury against Ipswich on Saturday.

The Welshman came on as a half-time substitute at the weekend, but was hooked off just ten minutes later. Ipswich went on to win the game 4-3.

The 28-year-old has played a part in all eight of Rovers’ Championship games so far this season, including scoring the winner in the victory at Watford.

Hedges is expected to be out until the new year, which is when he will be looking to be back to help push Rovers in the second half of the season, in what will be expected to be a playoff push.

This injury does extend Rovers injury list to four, so manager Jon Dahl Tomasson will be hoping that list doesn’t get any bigger.

“Sam Barnes is out, Sam Gallagher is out and Niall Ennis is not available,” Tomasson told the Lancashire Telegraph. “It’s extremely disappointing to lose Ryan.

“He is one of the players that has played a lot, he is an experienced player, it is a young squad. Along with Sam Gallagher, he is one of the oldest in the squad.

“He will probably be out for three months, maybe even longer. We have to wait and see.

“It is extremely disappointing for the lad but also for the team as a senior player. That is football, it’s a lot of players in the same position that are getting injured.

“We can’t change that. We are playing a lot of games, it can happen in football.”

“Maybe, we are speaking to a specialist so we will wait and see,” he added.
