Blackburn Rovers have had to contend with plenty of injuries over the course of this season.
Throughout the campaign, it has felt as though the club have had to deal with numerous absences going into each game they play.
That is something that is unlikely to have helped the Ewood Park club from one week to the next, in what has been a tough season for them.
As things stand, Blackburn Rovers go into their clash with Cardiff City on Tuesday night 17th in the Championship table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Now, new head coach John Eustace has been handed another injury blow that he will have to cope with in the coming weeks.
Harry Leonard facing an extended spell out
Having made his first appearances at senior level last season, Harry Leonard has been even more involved with Blackburn Rovers’ first-team this time round.
The centre forward has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the club this season. During that time he has scored four goals and provided two assists.
However, he has missed out on a place in the matchday squad, in each of the last four first-team games Blackburn Rovers have played.
Now it appears as though the centre forward will be out for some time longer yet, following his latest social media update.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon, the 20-year-old wrote: “Gutted to hear that I’m going to be out for a while. I’ll do everything I can to get myself back stronger”.
Striker injury a blow for Blackburn Rovers
This latest update from Leonard will not be seen as good news by anyone around Ewood Park.
The striker has not always been the most ruthless when it comes to taking the chances that have come his way this season.
Even so, he has still contributed some important goals for Blackburn Rovers over the course of the campaign.
Indeed, you also feel that the more opportunities and experience he gets, the more likely he is to become more prolific in front of goal.
But with this injury now ruling him out for some time, he is going to have wait for that to happen. This therefore, is not going to help with his development.
With Blackburn Rovers having also seen their move for Orlando City striker Duncan McGuire collapse at the start of this month, they now find themselves rather short on options to lead the line.
As a result, it does seem as though the club are now walking a tightrope in that position, when it comes to their reliance on another player who has had a long spell out this season, in Sam Gallagher.
