Blackburn Rovers receive Duncan McGuire update after Orlando City return

Blackburn Rovers saw a deadline day move for Duncan McGuire collapse in dramatic circumstances.

The final day of the window saw the club resurrect a move for the Orlando City striker after they had pulled out the evening before.

However, despite the club eventually announcing the signing of the 23-year-old at the end of the window it emerged that not all paperwork had been submitted in time by Blackburn Rovers.

As a result, McGuire now finds himself back at Orlando City for the time being after the EFL ruled the deal would not be approved.

Admittedly that is unlikely to be where he expected he would find himself right now. Even so, it appears he is still comfortable being back with his MLS club.

Orlando City a ‘good place’ for Duncan McGuire to be

After the collapse of his move to Blackburn Rovers, McGuire is now once again working with Orlando City.

The MLS season set to get underway later this month. It now appears as though the striker is ready to put recent events behind him and get back to playing for the club after missing out on that move to Ewood Park.

Speaking about his return to Orlando City, McGuire was quoted by the club’s content manager Austin David on X, formerly Twitter, as saying:

“It’s definitely a good place to be at. All my friends are here. The training staff and coaches I trust and have good relationships with, so it’s definitely enjoyable being back and makes things a lot easier.”

Blackburn Rovers fans will be pleased for Duncan McGuire here

It is unlikely there will be any supporters of Blackburn Rovers disappointed to see the striker is happy with his situation here.

There was a lot of sympathy among the Championship club’s fanbase for the way in which McGuire was messed about by those in charge at Ewood Park.

It is also worth noting that a move to English football would have been a huge opportunity for McGuire. The fact his move to Blackburn Rovers fell through will therefore have been incredibly tough to take.

Indeed, the 22-year-old made himself popular among supporters for still being willing to make the move to the club after his transfer had appeared close to collapsing in the first place.

As a result, those fans of Blackburn Rovers will be hoping things go well for McGuire here, to make up for what has happened to him recently.

Beyond that, it should be remembered that the Ewood Park club have confirmed they will look to secure a pre-contract agreement that would see McGuire join them in the January transfer window.

With that in mind, Blackburn Rovers fans fans will surely have a close eye on how he fares with Orlando City in the coming weeks to see just what sort of impact he might make in England in the future.
