Thomas Kaminski finally looks set to depart Ewood Park as the ongoing transfer saga with Luton Town nears a close.
According to The Athletic, a fee has now been agreed for the 30-year-old as the Hatters’ squad takes shape ahead of their maiden Premier League campaign.
Kaminski has made 118 appearances for Rovers since joining from Gent in 2020, keeping 33 clean sheets in that time. Remarkably, he has also been booked on 11 occasions for Rovers and 26 times in total over the span of his career; weirdly impressive for a goalkeeper.
Prior to his time in England, he was a serial winner in both Belgium and Denmark and has featured on several occasions in the Europa League. He has two Belgium Pro League titles, three Belgian Super Cups, a Superliga title and a Danish Cup to his name.
Luton have been frequently linked with Kaminski throughout the summer, having multiple offers rejected by Blackburn before finally striking a deal.
A fee of £2.5million plus add-ons is said to have been accepted for the shot stopper who has two years left on his current deal.
Kaminski departs
The Belgian had been Rovers’ first choice goalkeeper until an injury kept him out of action for a couple of months last season. Deputy goalie Aynsley Pears stepped in to cover for Kaminski and continued to hold down his place in the starting XI for the remainder of the season.
Pears’ performances earned him a new four-year deal, which raised questions over the 30-year-old’s Blackburn future. Those questions now appear to be answered.
Without Kaminski, Jon Dahl Tomasson has just Pears and Joe Hilton at his disposal between the sticks. However, reports in Scandinavia suggest that Leopold Wahlstedt of Odds BK is a target for Rovers to replace the departing Belgium youth international.
