Blackburn Rovers left-back Georgie Gent said he was close to his ‘dream debut’ for Motherwell after nearly scoring, failing to secure his side a point.
Gent joined Motherwell on loan for the season on deadline day and hit the crossbar on his debut as they lost 1-0 to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
The 19-year-old thought his side were the better side and were unlucky not to get a point.
“I thought it was going to be the dream debut, and it was close,” Gent told the Daily Record. “I thought it had gone in, but it’s just one of those things.
“It wasn’t our day, but we regroup and we go again. We deserved a point but it’s football at the end of the day – you win some, you lose some. We’ll be back.
“To be honest, I thought we were the better team, but it happens. We will regroup, and the lads will be up for the next one.”

Gent went on to say about how much he has enjoyed his time at Motherwell in his first loan spell away from Rovers.
“I’m loving it here,” he said. “The lads have been class since day one, making me feel welcome and that has boosted my confidence.
“I’ve got to play games, get experience, be around a first-team environment.
“Just to play the professional game and get some time under my belt, and see how it goes from there.
“The manager has told me to be patient and bide my time, and when my chance comes, take it and keep my spot in the starting XI.”
Gent is also relishing the chance to play at Ibrox against Rangers next weekend.
“Personally it will be a great experience, playing at Ibrox, which I have never done before.
“I’m sure it will be a tough test, but we will be up for it.”
