Blackburn Rovers could be set for a welcome cash windfall should former shot stopper David Raya seal a switch to Arsenal.
When selling Raya to Brentford, Rovers inserted a 12.5% sell-on clause to benefit from any profit made by the Bees should he depart them in the future, that is according to Lancs Live.
It now looks more likely than ever that the Spanish goalkeeper is to move on from the Gtech Community Stadium, with Bayern Munich and, more recently, the Gunners said to be interested in his services as per MailOnline.
Neither giant have made an offer as of yet, but it is believed the Mikel Arteta wants to sign the 27-year-old to compete for a place in the first team alongside England international Aaron Ramsdale.
As for Thomas Tuchel’s side, they are looking for a Yann Sommer replacement following his talks with Inter Milan over a move to the San Siro.
Blackburn need to generate their own budget this summer, so a timely Raya sale could provide a huge transfer boost for Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men.
Brentford are said to be holding firm on their £40million valuation of the Spain international, meaning that Rovers could land around £5million should the Bees get their desired fee.
Raya made 108 appearances for Blackburn during his five years at Ewood Park. Becoming the first choice goalkeeper after Rovers’ relegation to League One in 2017, he played a pivotal part in securing the club’s promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
He continued as the number one for the following second tier campaign before Brentford came calling in the summer of 2019.

Four years on from his switch, he has made 161 appearances for the London club and featured 62 times in the Premier League.
Raya has gone from strength to strength since his departure, with praise of the highest order from Jürgen Klopp last season.
“The goalkeeper could wear the number ten shirt. He has sent several incredible balls, exactly what you should do when you play against us,” Klopp said of the Spaniard.
Brilliant with the ball at his feet, a fantastic distributor and a sturdy shot stopper; Rovers may well be licking their lips should Raya move on this summer.
