Blackburn Rovers endured yet another frustrating away day on Saturday, as they drew 2-2 with Preston North End at Deepdale.
Things started well for the visitors, who raced into a two-goal lead before the half-hour mark, thanks to goals from Sam Szmodics and Sam Gallagher.
However, the host were able to fight back before half time, with Robbie Brady and Emil Riis getting on the scoresheet to make it 2-2.
There would be no further goals in the second half, meaning John Eustace was forced to continue his wait for a first official win as Blackburn Rovers boss.
That will no doubt be disappointing for those at Ewood Park, and one player who somewhat underwhelmed in that match, was Arnor Sigurdsson.
Winger ‘didn’t get control’ at Deepdale
With just under half an hour of normal time remaining, Sigurdsson was brought off the bench by Eustace to replace Tyrhys Dolan.
It is a move that was likely down in an attempt to add an extra spark to the visitor’s attack, although it isn’t one that particularly worked out.
Writing about Sigurdsson’s performance, the Lancashire Telegraph said: “Didn’t make an impact and there were a few occasions where he didn’t get control of simple balls.”
As a result, the winger was given a mark of 5/10 for his performance at Deepdale.
Indeed, according to SofaScore, the Iceland international did not have any shots, play any key passes or even attempt any dribbles during his 26 minutes on the pitch.
Meanwhile, although he did complete one clearnace, one interception and one tackle defensively, he was also dribbled past twice.
The Blackburn Rovers substitute also won two of his five duels, while he also lost possession on six occasions, despite the fact he was on the pitch for less than half an hour.
A mixed first season at Blackburn Rovers for Arnor Sigurdsson
At times during the campaign, Sigurdsson has enjoyed a run of games where he has made a big impact for the Ewood Park club.
That has come with some important goals and assists that have helped Blackburn Rovers to some important results.
However, around those runs have been a number of games such as this one against Preston North End, where he has been unable to make much of an impression.
With that in mind, there may be some concern about using the winger for Eustace, since he cannot be certain what sort of performance he will get from him.
As a result, it would not be a huge surprise if it turns out that Sigurdsson has not done enough here to play himself back into the Blackburn Rovers starting XI for Tuesday’s trip to Cardiff City.
