Blackburn Rovers find themselves in what looks to be a challenging position at this moment in time.
On the pitch, John Eustace‘s side find themselves looking nervously over their shoulders at the Championship relegation zone.
They currently sit 18th in the table, just three points clear of the relegation zone. That is after a run of just two wins in their last 20 league games.
Off the pitch as well, these are concerning times for the Ewood Park outfit. With club owners Venkys current under investigation by the Indian government, they must appeal to the high court whenever they want to invest money needed to continue the day to day funding of the club.
However, the latest appeal to clear Blackburn Rovers‘ owners to make that investment has recently been delayed for a second time.
As a result, the appeal over that investment of funds is not due to be heard until late August. But while that may mean the club looks as though it is facing some considerable uncertainties, the position of Venkys’ themselves has not changed.
Blackburn Rovers are not for sale
According to a report from Alan Nixon over the weekend, Venkys currently have no plans to sell the club.
It is suggested that the only circumstance in which they would be willing to put Blackburn Rovers up for sale, is in the event of promotion to the Premier League.
Those claims are something that the club themselves now appear to have confirmed with their recent activity.
On Monday, a statement was issued insisting that the owners would have no problems funding the club, despite issues relating to the court appeals in India.
As part of that statement, it was claimed that Venkys remain comitted to Blackburn Rovers in the ‘short, medium and long term’.
With that in mind, it seems evident that the club’s current owners, have no intention of selling any time soon.
Why that might be the case though, seems rather less clear.
Venkys stance seems strange
Since they took over Blackburn Rovers back in 2010, things have not exactly gone well for Venkys.
The club were a stable Premier League side at that time, something they are now a long way from.
Indeed, the precarious position in the Championship table they find themselves in, suggests they are likelier to drop further than rise again as things stand.
As a result, it is hard to imagine this is helping their reputation at all. That sentiment is further enhanced by the high profile protests they have been subject too during their time at the helm at Ewood Park.
Those are now once again getting louder, amid the current struggles Blackburn Rovers are enduring.
Financially as well, with the amount of money they are having to put into the club to keep it going, means this is not a cheap investment for them either.
The time and pressure these court cases are now taking up is unlikely to be helping them in that sense either.
With that in mind, the fact they might be willing to sell if Blackburn Rovers do win promotion back to the Premier League, is also somewhat hard to understand.
Of course, that is when the club will be the most appealing for other buyers. That in turn could allow Venkys to sell for a higher price.
However, the much greater prize and TV money also mean that a return to the Premier League, would be their best chance to recoup some of the finances they have put into the club.
With all that in mind, it seems as though the last few days have only led to more questions than answers when it comes to Venkys and their stance over the future of Blackburn Rovers.
